Low Lights

Last night, i was thinking of trying something new and then street photography pops up. it's pretty challenging because here in KSA taking pictures in public is prohibited (i mean strictly prohibited) either they confiscate your camera or go to jail thats how it works. (As what they say). But a person like me who wants to try a feel of adventure... took my cam and hit the streets (you can feel my hands shaking during those times). i've learned some points in taking nightshots. let me share you some. let me remind you im no professional, so take my tips at your own risk. a) the key to low lights shots is long exposure which means slow shutter speeds. so if you're an avid fan of caffeine a tripod is a must. b) ISO speeds 100 to 400 (this will take some trial and error finding the optimum value) and dial your shutter speed 15 to 20. (my pics are bit lower for obvious reasons i stated above) c) in terms of aperture if you want to capture a depth of field i mean longer depth of field to ensure far off elements with scene in focus you can try f9 to f-14. again lemme remind you, those are my noobie tips. so try and explore at your own risks. anyway, here's my low light street photography paparazzi style. enjoy!

rarindra's nightmare

I'm light years behind from Rarindra Prakarsa, for the benefit of those who doesn't know rarindra i'll be posting he's link below, rarindra's work is extremely impressive a truly visually poetic artist. Inspired me in so many ways, that i could watch his portfolio salivating for hours for me he's the dave hill of the east hehehe, What really amazed me in his shots was the ambience and natural lighting taken from ricefields or countrysides with kids or farmers doing their usual routines. the color management is superb. anyway here's my own version i know it's so far out & not even close. so if rarindra might stumble on this one it would be the perfect title for my entry so i say. hurl your tomatoes now! enjoy!

diptychs & triptychs

Diptychs and triptychs are a brilliant tool for photographic storytelling. They present two or three images which can be from the same session or they can be polar opposites to show opposition or contrasting ideas. Above are such images and what we can get out of them to help us form our own effective diptychs and triptychs.

etymology: late latin diptycha plural from greek diptychos folded in two. a picture or series of pictures painted or carved in two hinged tablets. as an altarpiece.

the 500th shot!

after days of hiatus, i stumbled upon lots of reading materials and finally decided i needed a new workflow for my photo process. so woke up early this morning and went to my playground as (usual the rooftop) then shoot and test. it was then i realized i was on my 500th mark of photoshoots and as far as my brain stores information maybe only 10% of those shoots were good ones. hhhmmm needs improvement for the next 1000 mark. anyway, here's my outcome on my new workflow. enjoy!

things starts to get brighter...at least.

photo tex!

I'm amazed by those people in the DPP (Digital photography philippines). one of my idols there is Joel H. Garcia . Check his thread in digital fineart about digital texturing. im trying to mimick his works but to no avail i failed!, I'll provide you the link later on. My entry today is about digital texturing my own version again as what i always said im still a beginner this blog is created as my contribution to myself. I'm the master of this blog no one can judge me. Okay hurl your tomatoes now (tagshing! tagshing!). anyway, In this entry i used several paper textures and post processing is mostly done in photoshop using the filter gallery and the texturizer. really would like to thank those ADOBE gods!... enjoy!

Masjid

Here's my sunset attempt. was really on a rush on this took 5 shots and finally 2 shots made it perfect for me. uuhmm that makes 2 out of 5 not bad again. i just use some manny librodo sharpening technique (Whoever you are man... you rock!). The post processing here is very minimal. Honestly, i only use photoshop for the framing, signature and of course the sharpening technique. enjoy!

Monochromes!

i love black & white, i mean literally! black & white photography is the most interesting art form it's raw and refined, natural and unusual, bold and subtle, mysterious and open, emotional and impulsive, simple and complex. you name it. you'll never get lost into something much deeper. for me taking monochromatic shots isn't a skill you can take up in a short time. because there are things also to consider like; focus on contrast, focus on texture, and most specially the story within. im no pro in these category i myself was a victim of these category. Sure, anybody can produce black and white photos but filling in with story is one thing you should consider and it takes a little more thought and skill to produce black and whites. but you could disregard this it's only my point of view. :) enjoy!

Bullet The Blue Sky!

sorry for the title can't think of something. Anyway, it's been 3 days i haven't posted was so busy with work. for today im trying to render a HDRI -(High Dynamic Range Imaging) to achieve this effect I have to process or blend 3 exposures by setting my bracketing exposure to (-2, 0, +2. ) then merging those shots through photomatix pro software. you may want to try also topaz adjust 2.4 adobe photoshop plug-in where you can make a single photo to HDR. (HDR) images enable photographers to record a greater range of tonal detail than a given camera could capture in a single photo. This opens up a whole new set of lighting possibilities which one might have previously avoided for purely technical reasons. HDR’s always have a synthetic flavor. for those who wanna try these effect just becareful when adjusting the tone mapping settings, over doing it will result to cartoon like image. enjoy.
