this shot was taken at al-shoaiba a coastal lagoon located from the ouskirts of jeddah K.S.A. almost on the borders of YEMEN . this was taken during the howling hour it was pitch dark so i have to turn my shutter for a very long exposure (not mentioning pressing the button manually) rumors had it that this ship was abandoned for almost 2 decades.

my first time to use 3 lights. my set-up was 2 large strip box left & right (cross-lighting) and 1 infront of the camera. all powered by speedlites. hope to improve more. ` enjoy

after months of constant practice think im getting there. i've been aiming for this effect for so long. now i think i'm almost there. the sad part i forgot how i come up with this picture i forgot the workflow. because sometimes when i edit pictures i just blast anything out. and sometimes also depends on my mood. but i think i'm really getting there i just need lights lot's of them. enjoy!

you can find lots of this kind of abandoned buildings in old balad in jeddah, im thinking of going there at night just to experience the creepiness of the place and of course the thrill of getting rob this place is a haven for some distinctive thieves. hope to post more shots about this place. ~enjoy

Yea, i know some of you might react to the title.. cos in the back of your mind. if this gonna be a heavens door im not gonna go inside.. but hey, for the record you'll never knew what you gonna get. as they say don't judge the book by it's cover. anyway, it's been long time i haven't posted with my blog so here's a urban decay taken from the slums of Old Balad in Jeddah. ~ enjoy

arsenal:
canon 500D, 18-55mm kitlens, CPL filter

Shoot in 1 Raw file
-open in adobe bridge create another 2 separate exposures -2 & +2
-merged in Photomatix save file in .tif file
-open photoshop
-created 1 layer for curves for higlights and saturation
-created 1 layer for levels for selective darkening in some areas
- added 1 layer of high pass with vivid blending mode and added mask for selective sharpening.

this shot was taken at al tayabat city museum, jeddah k.s.a., we plan to shoot inside the museum but unfortunately it was closed. so we opted to shoot the building.

workflow:
Canon 500D + 18-55mm kitlens + CPL & ND4 filters
pseudo HDR made 3 exposures in adobe camera raw then merge in photomatix

Photoshop:
-added 1 layer of hue and saturation for the building
-added 1 layer of curves adjustment for the skies
-added 1 layer for high pass sharpening
flatten image.

it's been a long time i haven't posted my workflow. and i received messages from friends. guys im not really good in explaining things but hope you'll understand something from here. :)

arsenal:
canon 500D + ND4 + CPL marumi filters
use tripod for tack sharp pics. (but this one i haven't brought one so i shoot handheld)
3 bracket exposures with 1/2 increments
merge in photomatix & save as .tif image

Processing:
open file in Photoshop
-added 1 layer for hue and saturation
-added 1 layer for curves adjustment
-added 1 layer for high pass sharpening + mask for selective sharpening
-added 1 layer for levels

nothing new today. it was an all boring week for me. so i decided to post process my old photo. anyway, enjoy yer day everyone!

Workflow:
*1 RAW file
-open in adobe bridge then save 3 exposures (-2, 0 , +2) in .tiff format

* 3 .tiff format
-merge in potomatiks setting the AWB in cloudy (depends sa scene, in this scene i want it to have warm color), the Tone mapping using detail enhancer adjust the slider to yer own taste. then save as 16bit .tif format

final in potosyap
-open the saved 16 bit .tif format in potosyap. then add 1 layer for curves adjustment (for the highlights & saturation) then merge, duplicate layer for dodge & burn, duplicate layer for highpass change blend mode to vivid light adjust slider for sharpness. save as .jpeg

Last thursday Jan. 20. kulay organized a fun photoshoot at saudia compound. The theme for the shoot was like a J.S. prom event. lots of thoughts were running in my mind (it reminded me of those high school years were everything was so carefree). Anyway, it was so fun-packed the teens were so cooperative. you can check more photos on my stream in flickr. this shot is a keeper. enjoy!

im starting to love shooting clouds these days. for reasons that cloud formations like these are very rare in this place. (jeddah k.s.a), anyway, this shot was taken during our chasing clouds series. me and my friend amro (thanks for the ride man) were so busy shooting while we escape during our working hours in the office (hehehe). we just don't want to miss this opportunity.

workflow:
- 3 bracket exposure shot at 1/2 increments
- post processed using photomatix [detail enhacer] save as .tif 16bit
- open in photoshop
-added 1 layer for hue and saturation
-added 1 layer for curves adjustment
-added 1 layer for high pass with 4 radius in vivid light blending mode
-dodge & burn

first of all would like to thank Frits Vrielink a good friend in flickr since the start of doing HDR images i always visit his works and admire the way he process his photos and the best thing is he shared some tips of his art to me. it was a good feeling if you know someone helps you with your craft and that person was one of your influence. anyway, i combine his style from my style and boom here's the result of my new conceptualized workflow. enjoy!

-3 bracket exposure
-combine in photomatix (yes i'll be using photomatix from now on)
-added 1 layer of curves for highlights
-added 1 layer of curves for darkening some areas
added 1 layer of levels for final adjustment of the feel. (mostly the darkening & lights of some areas
-dodge and burn.

taken at jeddah corniche during our photowalk with the Kulay Group. it was raining like the southern army lately here in jeddah. good thing i was able to catch this scene before the rain pours. taken at around 6:15pm while the group was so busy finding there spot. i braved the waves and fixed my tripod beyond one of those rocks. this was truly a memorable one for me for my cam was almost drained by saltwater.

the workflow:
-taken by 3 bracket exposure at 1/2 stop increments
-processed in photoshop
-added 1 layer of curves for highlights
-added 1 layer for selective color balance
- selective dodge & burn

my first entry for 2011... 2010 was blast for me, learn a lot of things. I was thinking of new concepts for 2011 to improved my craft. from time to time i'll be posting simple pics to extreme manipulation. I'm starting to love Photography and i guess im married to Photoshop Lol! hope i can post some tutorials but im not that good enough once i have that guts already. i'll be showing my workflows on my post processing. ... enjoy!

-added 4 background pictures adjusted some levels and hue/saturation.
-extracted my model then applied some dodge and burn and adjusted the levels to fit in the scene.
-added some fire texture on the hands mask and overlayed.
-added high pass filtering for sharpness and adjusted the opacity to 95% then overlayed.
-tweaked the color balanced for final adjustment.
